Statement to Budget reads it — text layer or scanned — extracts every line with a signed amount, checks the totals against the statement, and gives you a CSV in Xero's manual import layout or an OFX file. The category we assign to spending is carried in the Reference column so coded rows arrive coded.

Frequently asked questions
How do I import the file into Xero?
In Xero open the bank account, choose Manage Account → Import a Statement, and upload the Xero CSV (Date, Amount, Payee, Description, Reference) or the OFX file. Xero recognises both layouts without a custom column map.
Does it include deposits, or only spending?
Every line on the statement — deposits, transfers, fees, interest, refunds and purchases — with a signed amount (negative out, positive in) the way Xero expects. Totals are checked against the statement before download.
Can I convert statements for several clients at once?
Yes. Upload a batch of PDFs from different banks and download a file per statement. Password-protected and scanned statements work.
How much does it cost?
3 pages are free with no signup. One statement unlocks for $4.99. Pro is $29/month for 400 pages; Bookkeeper is $79/month for 1,500 pages with API access.
Is client data safe?
Files are processed over an encrypted connection and deleted after extraction; extracted rows are kept 30 days for re-download, then removed. No data is sold or shared.
